Grounding - 5-4-3-2-1

In this video, our counselor Maggie talks about how to cope with anxiety and stress or to deal with strong emotions. This technique is very effective at pulling you out of the future or the past and placing you right in the moment you're at so you can think clearly and do something about what you're feeling. It's as simple as 5-4-3-2-1 and can be done anywhere and at any time. This is a great parenting tool, you can make it a game with your child if they're feeling afraid or stressed about something. Of course, this works for adults as a great self-care tool to keep yourself present. Next time you find yourself feeling upset, remember 5-4-3-2-1.

What’s The difference between domestic violence and anger management?

Kathy explains the difference between anger management and domestic violence. In addition to mental health needs, our agency helps people with these two aspects of personal wellness. We offer an anger management group for learning tools to manage anger and we offer individual and group counseling to help both victims and offenders of domestic violence. All of our counselors go through special training to address domestic violence and can help. If you or someone you know is involved in domestic violence, reach out for help, you don't have to be alone. There are resources on our website to help you determine if this is something you're facing, sometimes it can be difficult to know. We serve residents of the state of Utah in person or via telehealth.

The Pros and Cons of Telehealth

In this Covid era we have more options than ever to meet with a therapist and tend to our mental health. In this video, Chandler discusses some of the pros and cons of meeting with a therapist via telehealth. At our practice, our therapists are available to meet with you in person or via telehealth.

Childhood Abuse Trauma & the Brain

The effects on the brain from the trauma of childhood abuse can last well into adult hood. Our lovely intern Maggie gives us some insight into how this happens within the brain itself and why it is so important to understand that these effects are not something we can just wish away.
